A Certified Trainer is CHRT® (Certified Human Resources Trainer) who is in good standing and has demonstrated competence and understanding in a range of training situations against an agreed standard and has agreed to abide by the HRMI Code of Ethics.

The CHRT® designation is awarded through an assessment process which requires you to present evidence of your competence in HR training processes and your area of technical specialization against the Institute's Competency Framework.  CHRT® is also tested against their understanding of the HRMI® Code of Ethics. CHRT® candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • Document 3 years experience in the full time practice of HR training, with major responsibility for client engagements during at least one of those years.
  • Possess a bachelor's degree from an Accredited College or University.
  • Provide multiple references, most of them from officers or executives of clients served
  • Provide written summaries of client engagements
  • Pass a qualifying interview by HRMI® assessment committee
  • Hold Professional Designation CHRM®, CHRD® or CHRC® or equivalent, or Hold Certified International Professional Trainer (CIPT) from American Certification Institute.
  • HRMI,s CHRT® Certification in good standing for at least 2 years preceding the registration and having successfully completed the Requirements for CHRT® designation.

HRMI's CHRT® Certifications are mandatory requirements to teach HRMI courses/modules. CHRT® holders shall receive several benefits through their participation as Institute trainers as well as earn senior membership. Their current annual dues are $100 (can be prorated) including application fees.
